Day 1: Journey to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park & Nocturnal Walk
After breakfast at your accommodation in Antananarivo, your guide will meet you for the scenic drive to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. As you leave the bustling capital behind, the journey will take you through Madagascar’s picturesque highlands, passing traditional villages, rice paddies, and lush green landscapes. Upon arrival in Andasibe, you will check into your lodge and have time to relax before the evening’s adventure.
As night falls, you will embark on a guided nocturnal walk in the surrounding rainforest. This is a unique opportunity to spot Madagascar’s fascinating nocturnal wildlife, including chameleons, frogs, and the elusive mouse lemur. The forest comes alive with sounds and movements, offering an unforgettable introduction to the island’s biodiversity.

Day 2: Exploring Andasibe-Mantadia National Park
After an early breakfast, you will set off for a full day of exploration in Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. This pristine rainforest is famous for being home to the indri, Madagascar’s largest lemur, known for its haunting calls that echo through the forest. Accompanied by an expert local guide, you will trek through the dense vegetation in search of these remarkable primates, as well as other lemur species like the diademed sifaka and common brown lemur.
In addition to lemurs, the park hosts an impressive variety of wildlife, including colorful chameleons, leaf-tailed geckos, and rare bird species such as the blue coua and Madagascar pygmy kingfisher. The flora is equally impressive, with towering trees, wild orchids, and medicinal plants contributing to the rainforest’s unique ecosystem.
In the evening, you’ll have another opportunity to explore the forest on a guided night walk, looking for nocturnal creatures that emerge after sunset.

Day 3: Wildlife Encounters in Maromizaha Reserve
Today, after breakfast, you will visit Maromizaha Reserve, a lesser-known but equally rich rainforest located near Andasibe. This protected area is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, including the endangered black-and-white ruffed lemur and several species of chameleons and frogs. Birdwatchers will delight in spotting endemic species such as the Pitta-like Ground Roller and the Madagascar Blue Vanga.
As you trek through the reserve’s lush trails, your guide will provide fascinating insights into the conservation efforts in the region, explaining the importance of preserving Madagascar’s fragile ecosystems. You’ll have time to soak in the serenity of the rainforest before returning to Andasibe for the evening.

Day 4: Return to Antananarivo & Cultural Stops
After a leisurely breakfast, you will depart from Andasibe and begin the journey back to Antananarivo. Along the way, you may have the chance to stop at local markets or traditional villages, where you can interact with locals, discover Malagasy crafts, or taste exotic fruits.
Upon arrival in the capital, you will be transferred to your hotel or the airport for your onward journey, marking the end of an enriching wildlife experience in Madagascar.
